The Seymour Marine Discovery Center was built almost entirely with private support, including a $2 million cornerstone gift from H. Boyd Seymour Jr. The Center continues to be almost entirely self-funded through individual gifts, business sponsorships, fundraising events, and foundation grants, as well as support from memberships, admission and program fees, facility rentals, and gift shop sales.
A strong endowment will provide a permanent income source that will enable the Center to continue serving future generations.
Legacy Endowment Campaign
Your contribution to the Legacy Endowment Campaign will help secure our financial future. Our goal is $3 million for the endowment, which will provide a permanent stream of annual revenue that directly funds the Center’s conservation education programs, exhibits and aquaria, and new initiatives.
Endowment Naming Opportunities
Donors contributing $100,000 or more to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center Legacy Endowment Campaign will have the opportunity to name a fund that provides a reliable stream of income for the Center.
- Education funds underwrite our education programs. Marine science education is the core mission of the Seymour Marine Discovery Center, and its wide variety of conservation education programs serve a broad and diverse audience from central California and beyond.
- Exhibit funds support permanent and temporary exhibits, including those that house live marine animals in the aquaria and pools and the interactive stations in the exhibit hall. Exhibit funds include support for the care and feeding of marine animals.
- Innovation and opportunity funds fuel the Center’s development and underwrite new initiatives and innovative programs. They also help support the Center’s annual operations and support programming, operations, and enhancements to technology.
