Group Visits

For groups of 10 or more who are not affiliated with a K-12 class, we offer two different types of visits.

(Get information here about K-12 school programs.)

Reserved Group Tours

Reserved Group ToursReserve your own private group tour. Perfect for clubs, family reunions, pre-schools, scouts, and other youth or adult groups. While on tour, you will see and learn about the incredible marine mammals residing at Long Marine Lab, and learn how ongoing research at the lab helps conservation efforts for animals in the wild. Marvel at the enormous “Ms. Blue”—at 87-feet long, she’s one of the world’s largest whale skeletons. Discover how the largest animal on the planet depends on an unlikely food source, and find out what scientists have learned about blue whales in our oceans.

Before or after your tour, groups are invited to explore our interactive exhibits, aquaria, and intertidal and shark touch pools to learn what it’s like to be a scientist.

Self-Guided Visits

Self-Guided VisitsYour group will learn how marine scientists think and work to understand life in the ocean through the Seymour Marine Discovery Center’s shark and invertebrate touch pools, exhibits, aquaria, life-size elephant seal sculptures, gray whale skeleton, and one of the world’s largest blue whale skeletons. Knowledgeable docents and exhibit guides will illuminate how researchers work in the lab and in the field.

Self-guided groups are welcome in the Center’s exhibit hall and immediate surroundings, but are not permitted access to the marine mammal research area or on tours. Have lunch at our picnic tables, visit the Ocean Discovery Shop, and stay as long as you like.
