The Seymour Marine Discovery Center was established by UC Santa Cruz to educate visitors about the role scientific research plays in the understanding and conservation of the world’s oceans. Our ongoing purpose is to interpret the research underway here at our affiliated marine laboratory, in Monterey Bay, and along the coasts and in the open ocean far beyond. Our connections with research organizations are crucial in our abilities to keep information up to date. Our primary affiliations are with the groups located alongside us here on the UCSC Coastal Science Campus. In fact, some of our tours visit neighboring labs and share how scientific discoveries are made.
