The Seymour Marine Discovery Center seeks a motivated, donor/customer-centered, individual to serve as our Development/Events Associate.

Under the direction of the Development Director, the incumbent assists with the implementation of all fundraising programs including gifts and grants, memberships, individual and corporate sponsorships, memorial and tribute benches. Duties include planning and implementing annual membership campaigns, managing all member/donor/sponsor mailings and electronic communications, managing the membership/donor section of the database, receiving and processing fundraising income, the memorial/tribute bench program, and providing administrative support to the board of directors.

Under the direct supervision of the Development Director, the Associate coordinates all aspects of developing, planning, and implementation of high-level fund raising and marketing events both at the Seymour Center and off site. The Associate also provides support for all public events of the Center.

Under the general supervision of the Development Director, the Associate manages the facility rentals program. Duties include proactively marketing the Center’s facilities to appropriate clients, reservations management, fee processing, ensuring that the Center’s assets are protected during events, and coordinating maintenance.

The Development/Events Associate must be able and willing to work frequent evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

The Seymour Marine Discovery Center is part of Long Marine Laboratory, a marine research and education facility within the Institute of Marine Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
