The Seymour Marine Discovery Center seeks a Youth Programs Manager. The position is responsible for the Center’s ongoing student, youth, and teacher education programs.
Under the general direction of the Seymour Center Director, the Youth Programs Manager has overall responsibility for developing, managing, and presenting K-12 and community college school programs, organized and informal youth education programs including an extensive summer day camp program, and teacher/youth group leader education. This includes developing marine science curricula and materials; training, supervising, and mentoring staff assistants, volunteers, and interns; developing and managing budgets; and program administration such as database management, participant registration, marketing and communications for youth programs. The Youth Programs Manager also serves as an integral education team member at the Seymour Center.
The overriding responsibility is to ensure both organized and informal school/youth/teacher groups visiting the Seymour Center receive an excellent educational experience, emphasizing research in progress at Long Marine Lab and within the Institute of Marine Sciences at UC Santa Cruz.
The Seymour Marine Discovery Center is part of Long Marine Laboratory, a marine research and education facility located on the University of California, Santa Cruz, Coastal Science Campus.
