Join us at the Seymour Center to explore “Coastal Connections” at Homeschool Day on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 10 AM–12:30 PM.
Enjoy a morning of special programming for homeschool families, including hands-on science investigations, marine-themed crafts, and guided tours. Touch live animals and explore coastal climate science activities and exhibits. Families are welcome to stay after 12:30 to enjoy more time exploring the Seymour Center exhibits, aquaria, and scenic trails at the UC Santa Cruz Coastal Science Campus.
Admission fees apply. RSVPs are no longer being accepted, but please come join us.

- Admission fees – Seymour Center members are free. To receive $1 off each admission, please say that you RSVPd for Homeschool Day before paying at the Admissions Desk.
- Homeschool Day Activity Map (2 pages). Keep handy for reference
- 15-minute guided tours to the Marine Mammal Research Overlook fill on a first-come, first-served basis. If interested, please ask if tour passes are available when you check in at the Information Table. No photos/videos are allowed at the research overlook.
- We encourage bringing your own science/nature journal to sketch/write observations, questions, and connections. Or bring a device to take photos/videos during activities to reflect on/write about later.
- While participating in Homeschool Day activities, you may be photographed by staff during the event. Photos may be used by Seymour Center/UC Santa Cruz for promotional purposes.
We encourage you to bring a lunch to enjoy at the outdoor classroom picnic tables so you can explore more inside and outside in the afternoon. Check out these resources for afternoon activity ideas.

- Geocaching passport: Secret Life of Larval Fishes – This activity takes about 1.5 hours to complete. Print the passport and be sure to download the free GEOCACHING app in advance
- Look for otters and other wildlife while walking along the bluff trail.
