Fog Net Pop Up Event at the Seymour Center

Harvesting, Detecting, and Measuring Fog – a lecture, workshop, and hands-on demo of fog science and engineering.

Dr. Peter Weiss, UCSC Research in the Department of Microbiology and Environmental Toxicology and his undergraduate researcher interns will be holding a teaching and demonstration event at the Seymour Center Saturday July 19 at 11 am – 1 pm in the Exhibit Hall.

You’ll hear reports on how we set up 12 garden bed fog collectors for backyard and community gardens in Pacifica, CA, how we are using low-cost sensors to quantify the water collected, and how we are testing what is in the fog.

We will have a 10 ft tall fog collector for you to see and electronics and sensors for you to demo. If you’ve ever had an interest in collecting fog water or are curious how it is done, come hear from Dr. Weiss and his team on this exciting new research in earth science and sustainability.
